Our boiler packed in on Wednesday and to say it has been very cold in our house would be an understatement. Plus no heating also means no hot water!! While Daddy sorted the problem out today by having to drive across the county to find a part our boiler required, the boys and I went out into the garden where it was far warmer than it was indoors.
It was so lovely to feel some warm sunshine on our faces because it has been bitterly cold the last couple of weeks. I decided to have a picnic in the garden at lunchtime - an excuse to use my new picnic blanket no less! - and so we could stay outside in the fresh air. As well as the boys having a picnic, some cuddly toy friends joined us for some luncheon too.
Jenson was a bit of a fidget and wouldn't sit still and eat his food or drink his drink! I don't mind too much about table manners when eating al fresco.
We had some 'tea' too of course in our fancy plastic-wear
And here is Burton being a little tea pot short and stout!
Burton picked me a daisy too and while I tried to remember the words to Daisy Daisy (and failed miserably - but luckily the boys are not familiar with the song so they weren't any the wiser!), he put it in my hair
Being sunny I said the boys could have an ice lolly - what a treat!!! And a sticky mess - not so bad outside though.
Although trying to walk along the wobbly and uneven stone wall is not a good idea when you are eating your ice lolly! Luckily, he didn't hurt himself.
The three picnic-teers!
(I dont know why I am pulling such a silly smiley face! )
My handsome boys - love them to bits
Our impromptu picnic cheered us all up today, it was just lovely to eat outside again. It made me dream of warmer days and hopefully many more picnics to come this year and to be enjoyed.
And the good news is that by the time we went indoors the heating was fixed - yaaaaay!!
Some lovely pictures - what a great idea, even in the cold it is still nice to get out!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so much fun. And possibly more fun because its unusual this time of year. We are rather partial to a winter BBQ with all of us in coats, hats and scarves, it's always a really good laugh. x

ReplyDeleteoh we have not had warm enough picnic weather...I can't wait! lovely picnic blanket. here is hoping we have some more sunny days soon!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired to try a picnic in the garden - we usually go somewhere else for a picnic but there is no reason why we shouldn't step outside the back door! I had to laugh that it was warmer outside than in the house - I am so glad your heating is now fixed. Popping over from Coombe Mill's Country Kids Linky x

ReplyDeleteLooks like the boys had a great time and look at all of those picnic guests! I hope there was enough tea and cake to go around! x
ReplyDeleteHurray for heating that works! Hurray for sunny days! Hurray for eating lollies outside and not making a mess of the kitchen floor! Not hurray for falling off the wall, but I'm pretty sure it'll be a matter of weeks (if that) until he conquers it.
