Yeo Valley Cook Book (A Review)

I love nothing more than flicking through a cookery book or magazine and discovering new recipes to inspire me to create my own gourmet extravaganzas! I actually have a cupboard full of recipe books and I really enjoy gazing at the beautiful and mouth watering photography and wishing in my head that I could have my own cookery book published one day *ahem*

I was recently sent the new cook book from Yeo Valley the dairy farm based in Somerset.

I have been looking through this gorgeous book for a few weeks now and believe me when I say that the layout and the photographs are just beautiful and together with the yummy sounding recipes, makes for a must have addition to my already fit to burst cook book cupboard!

It has taken me ages to select a recipe to try my hand at and blog about, and I have seen other bloggers feature some that I had considered making (eg, the raspberry, lemon and yogurt tea loaf  - this will teach me for leaving it so long to write up my review!). So in the end I decided to have a go at making the stoneground soda bread because I needed some bread for tea the other day and I had the ingredients to hand and because I have never made my own bread before!

It was a really easy recipe to follow and it only took 30 minutes to make some bread (including the cooking time) from scratch and I halved the ingredients to make the one loaf instead of two as stated in the book, in case it didn't turn out well!! As it happens the loaf was great - possibly a little under baked, to coin a phrase from the King of bread making Mr Paul Hollywood, but tasty nonetheless and delicious topped with butter and jam!

The book really is packed full of some utterly delicious food from breakfast, to lunch, dinner, picnics and cakes - something for every occasion! I am keen to try the pot roasted chicken with apples and cider,  the spinach, wild garlic and filo pie, somerset scrumpy and apple cake and the deep trout fish cakes with lemon butter and chive sauce and the afore mentioned tea loaf!

Some recipes from this delectable cook book have been tried and tested by some lovely people and can be found here:

Plus2.4 made all of these scrummy breakfast recipes
Cheddar farls with fried eggs and bacon
chocolate milkshakes
crunchy apple and raspberry granola
stoneground soda bread
buttermilk pancakes with honey and vanilla butter

Thinly Spread did some forraging to make the
spinach, wild garlic and filo pie

Helloutsgemma made the yummy looking and sounding
raspberry, lemon and yogurt tea loaf

Melksham Mum made the delicious
courgette, tomato and red pepper gratin

The Yeo Valley Family Farm The Great British Farmhouse Cook Book by Sarah Mayor is available to buy now for £20 and is one I would highly recommend.

I was sent a copy of this cookbook for the purpose of this review and all comments made about it are honest and my own. The bread was made by me and I am not sure it would have passed the taste test on the Great British Bake Off due to being slightly under baked but it was still tasty!
