Rock Climbing and Rock Pooling

Number 46 of the 50 Things To Do Before You're 11 3/4  is to

Try Rock Climbing

Last week we returned to Appledore to have another go at rock pooling.
Burton was in a climbing mood and kept climbing up the rock faces much to my horror - they weren't *that* high or dangerous but they can be slippery and I kept asking if he wanted a hand back down, only to be told "no Mummy, I have the best balance and can do it myself!". Fortunately for him, he was right and managed to climb up a few rocks unaided and uninjured.

We discovered a few crabs - most of which we didn't remove from their watery homes apart from this one which Granma wanted to show (cousin) Ben as he hadn't been rock pooling before.

Jenson was perfectly happy to play with the pebbles and enjoyed squishing the gravelly sand in between his fingers and toes!

The tide was out when we first arrived but it soon ebbed away alowing the boys to run around the wet and mud like sand

Someone got a bit carried away playing in the wet sand and ended up wearing it!! He didn't care and giggled the whole time!

I love the last picture of Jenson covered in mud but so happy! This is what great childhood memories are made of days spent having fun and exploring, thanks for sharing with Country Kids.

  2. I can almost smell the beach from your pictures. It's a great adventure rock pooling, I can't wait to take the pob when we go on holiday to the Lake District later in the summer. The boys looked like they had great fun x

  3. Oh my word, that photo of Jenson is flipping marvellous! This is a brilliant place, really love the rockpool exploration and I've got to commend them for their ability to walk around barefoot and not feel the sharp pebbles or barnacles.

    Nipping over from County Kids.

I love that last photo of Jenson - I can almost hear him giggling! The rock pooling looks like great fun, haven't done much of that with the boys yet... The rock climbing is great too, although I would have been holding my breath the whole time :)

What smashing pictures and what a brilliant day out. I used to love rock pooling as a child and I know the girls would love it too, it is something I must do this summer with them. That last picture of Jenson is just fantastic, his face is priceless x
