No More Sleeps Til Butlins

Today we will be making our way on our first proper holiday as a family of four to Butlins in Minehead. When I became a Butlins Ambassador last September and booked my holiday a few weeks later, it seemed AGES until our break would start. I have seen so many posts from my fellow Butlins Ambassadors about their breaks and would be a little envious of their photos and hearing about the fun they had. And now it is our turn - yaaaaaaay :)

We decided to stay at the Minehead resort for several reasons

*it is only an hour or so drive for us so not too far with two young children in the car
*we recently visited Bognor Regis when we went on the Tots 100 Christmas party back in 2011
*Skegness is just too far for such a short break
*I was intrigued by how much the Minehead resort has changed since I last visited when I was 12 (ie. back in the old days of 1986)

Personally, having seen that the majority of the Butlins Ambassadors have decided to take their holiday at Bognor I also think it will be nice for people to see another resort that Butlins has to offer - a change of scene and all that.

When I booked my short break, I was offered one of the resorts new style Gold Apartments

These are self catering accommodation apartments which I was pleased to accept, because it means we will have a kitchen

which will be handy for making snacks and for eating our lunch which will save us having to eat out every lunchtime. The kitchen also has a dishwasher - so no washing up on holiday either for me (wooo hoo!). We are booked on the premium dining plan too which means our breakfast and evening meals are included in our  break package too.

The apartments look really contemporary in their design

and are VERY different to the chalet style accommodation I would have stayed in back in the 1980's (thank goodness!!). The apartment also allows the OH and I to have a separate lounge from our bedroom which will be nice - a home from home which means that if we want to watch TV we don't have to do so sat on our beds and hopefully wont risk the chance of disturbing the children while they sleep either. Having said that there is a small TV in our bedroom so we could watch TV in bed if we wanted to!

Of course the resort offers all the usual Butlins activities and shows that are commonly found across all three resorts so I know that even if the weather isn't as sunny and warm as it was last week (typical!), we will have plenty of things we can do under cover to occupy the children. I know that both the boys are excited about Splash world and I have bought myself a new swimming costume especially for our break so I have no excuse not to join in and get wet either!

So I look forward to reporting back on my stay and I really hope it will not disappoint - in the mean time bye bye for now.

I have written this as part of my Butlins Ambassadors role
