This is another entry for the Aunt Bessie #halftermfoodchallenge hosted by Britmums (which you can read more about here) where the task is to create a family meal using at least one of the ready made/prepared food items that the Aunt Bessie brand is famous for.
serves 2 adults as a snack
or 3 small mouths
depends how hungry your family is!
You will need:
Packet of Aunt Bessies Yorshire Pudding Mix
3 tbsp olive oil
250m cold water
2 tsp dried basil
tomato pizza topping (about 1/3 of a jar)
pizza cheese (approx 2 handfuls)
Method
Preheat the oven to 220oC/200oC fan
Put the oil onto a baking tray - i used one that was approx 20x10cm - and place in the oven for about 10-15 minutes to heat the oil up
make up the yorshire pudding mix as directed on the packet using the water
Whisk until smooth
Add the basil and mix well
Once oil is hot, remove from oven and quickly add the batter and return as quickly (and carefully!) as possible
Cook for about 25 minutes
Remove from oven - mine rose really high ! And broke in half as I removed it from the baking tray!
Top with your tomato sauce and cheese (you could add other toppings if you wish e.g.. ham, onions etc..) and return to the oven for a further 10 minutes to melt the cheese
You could serve this with chips or salad if you wish, but we had ours as it was as it was only two of us sharing it.

I made this in my slow cooker
Serves 4 adults
You will need
A packet of Aunt Bessies Dumpling Mix
Mixed fruit of your choice - I used
2 large dessert apples, 2 pears, 12 strawberries, 2 nectarines
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp icing sugar (plus extra for your hands - see below)
1 tbsp caster sugar
brown sugar to garnish
6 tbsp cold water
A packet of Aunt Bessies custard mix
Method
lightly grease your slow cooker pot
peel and chop your fruit and place inside the slow cooker with the caster sugar
Place the dumpling mix, water, cinnamon and icing sugar in a mixing bowl and stir until a sticky dough is formed
using icing sugar coated hands, make small balls of dough and place on top of the fruit.
Garnish each dumpling with a tiny amount of brown sugar
Place the lid on and cook on high for about 2 - 21/2 hours
Then simply serve with the custard when cooked

Yummmmm....my mum makes pizza pies in a cupcake tray and I can imagine these tasting similar to that! And the fruit dumpler with custard sounds perfect in this weather.
ReplyDeleteooh missed this one...love your dumplers! & your yorkshire pizza looks good too...I usually add rosemary to our yorkshires..yum! x
ReplyDeleteThose pizzas are gorgeous! What a clever idea! We love yorkshire puddings and we love pizzas so this is the perfect combination, plus I'd imagine it to be healthier than a doughy pizza base?
