We sold our house a month ago. I feel a little sad about leaving my home, the first one my two boys have had in their short little lives to date. However, I am also excited at the prospect of starting a new chapter in my little family's life and finding a house that has things that our current one doesn't.
The good news is that as of last Tuesday, we had an offer accepted on a house that we viewed last weekend so providing nothing goes wrong, we have a new house which I am looking forward to but I am also finding it a little daunting.
I am excited because
The new house has a garden - which means the boys will have their own outside space at last to play in and there is enough room to be able to get a trampoline and a swing, things which I know they would both love to have of their own
There are trees in the garden which means that Daddy will be able to build them a tree house one day - I would have loved one when I was younger.
There is off road parking - no more having to play hunt the parking space!
It has a huuuuge kitchen - plenty of work space for creating cakes (and making mess!)
It has three recption rooms which means the boys can have a playroom which is not part of our lounge and dining room space (as it is currently) which means if I cant be bothered to tidy the toys away each night, I can just shut the door on them the boys have their own space in which to be creative and play with their toys.
We will have a spare room so we can have house guests
However, I am not looking forward to
Not living within easy walking distance to a shop - if I run out of milk here it is not a quick 2 minute jaunt to the local Spa.
Moving in to a house which, with the exception of the kitchen and downstairs wet room, is a bit old fashioned in the decoration department - I have been spoilt living in my current abode
Having a bigger house to keep clean and tidy *shudders*
All the packing and unpacking that needs to be done *sighs* - we still have boxes unpacked from when we moved into this house 4 years ago! I am going to need to get some removal boxes very soon and make a start on packing and clearing out our 'stuff' rather than leave it until the last minute. I am sooooo not looking forward to this!
I think boxes are soon going to be taking over my house!!!
Anyone else dread moving house?

This is a sponsored post but I am really moving........just not sure when!
The new house sounds lovely, I think your advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. More space is always good with growing boys!
ReplyDeleteooooh, how exciting! I love the idea of a treehouse and huge kitchen. x
ReplyDeleteSuch a stressful but exciting time all mushed into one!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely house, so nice to be able to have a proper family home - I wish my new house was a forever home, but it's just not big enough :(
I'm sure the old-fashioned-ness is just a great excuse to put your own stamp on the place, could be quite a fun activity haha! Good luck with the move!
Ooh exciting! I love moving house!
ReplyDeleteDon't know what sounds most exciting, the kitchen, wet room or possible tree house - the kid in me says tree house, but when I hear you're going to have a big kitchen I just think how many cakes will e made in there!
We moved house this year and as we it were buying it rather than renting it was smaller than what we had, cue a massive clear out which was very therapeutic (I am still clearing out now). It's so exciting making somewhere a home for you family and Lucas adjusted straight away. I hope it all goes well for you and you enjoy your new home, it sounds lovely xx
ReplyDeleteUgh I hate moving house- but it is worth it in the end! x
