That Was The Week That Was - A Week Of Sunshine and Fun

So it's been a mix bag weather wise this week but at least there has been sunshine and couple of days of being able to go out and about. Let me tell you in my week that was

Monday
Another session at Ladybirds for Burton and again no tears and I left with him waving me out of the door! When I collected him it as the first week he didn't notice me enter the building and I was able to watch him engrossed with Catherine, his key worker, busy doing some 3D puzzles. I watched him for a good 5 minutes until he spotted me and even then he carried on for another 10 minutes showing me how he could construct the puzzles! I am wondering whether we extend his weekly sessions by an hour as he seems to have settled in so well now and the four hours do fly by.
The boys had an early bath tonight as Jenson awake from his nap coughing and was then sick all over himself and his cot. The both love bath time!

Tuesday
I was woken up at 6.15am by Burton and when I went to his room he and his bedding were wet and it took me a minute to figure out why! Daddy and I forgot to out his big boy bedtime pants on last night, the early bath meant we didn't think about it at bedtime! Burton found this very funny that Mummy and Daddy had forgotten to out his "bedtime story pants" (his name for them !!) on. So anyway, he ended up having an early morning bath which he enjoyed!

Mid morning I let the boys do some painting. Well when I say boys, I mean Burton really although I let Jenson try some hand and feet painting which he loved.

The sun came out before lunch so afterwards I took us out for a walk in to town and we picked bluebells and spotted signs of nature and spring and did some splashing in puddles

After dropping some DVD's back at the library we popped into the cafe at M&S for a drink and a snack

It was so lovely to have got out and enjoyed some warm weather and fresh air at last!
After tea Burton went with Daddy to Tesco to buy a steering wheel for his Xbox and Burton apparently dashed off and re-appeared sporting a pretty summer floppy hat! Funny boy :)

Wednesday
We went to Grandma and Grampy's house as usual and it was a beautiful day! We got a bouncy castle from Tesco which is really good value at £75 and inflates in a few seconds! Burton, Jenson and their cousin Ben had such fun bouncing on it! Jenson wouldn't nap all day because he wanted to be outside playing like his brother and cousin!

We all had a lovely time outside and both bits were exhausted by the end and both fell asleep in the car on the way home!

Thursday
We went to see a friend of mine who has a boy, Ryhlie, who is a little older than Burton for lunch today. Both boys made chocolate krispie cakes even though Burton wouldn't eat any!! Jenson was really good a lunch time. Leanne doesn't have a table so I say him on a mat on the floor and stripped him off and he sat still while he ate his lunch, as good as gold and didn't move!! What a good boy!

Friday
The boys and I went to my Mums today as she is having them for the night, and it's the first time she has had Jenson to stay. Shadow was there and both boys love him and like to watch him playing in the garden

I left the boys late afternoon and drove home.

Saturday
I woke up a 8am! That's a lie in yay! I then lazed in bed til 9.30am and got up and cleaned the bathroom! I spoke to Mum and both boys were fine and had slept well.
Daddy and I went shopping eventually as we need clothes for a wedding we are attending next Saturday. He got a really nice grey suit and blue shirt, I finally found a dress and a pair of shoes from Next (the latter of which a being delivered to me Tuesday as they didn't have any in my size) and I bought Burton a little smart outfit from there also. They didn't have anything for Jenson so I will have to have a look next week.
The boys had fun as Grandma and Grandad took them to a donkey sanctuary near Lyme Regis, so the following photos were taken by Burton and Grandad

We picked the boys up after tea and brought them home. They had a lovely time as did mum and my step dad.

Sunday
Well today as been a funny old day! We had been invited to a friends for a BBQ at 4pm so I decided to make some cakes and cake pops to take with us. I spent most of the day doing this in between my other mummy duties, while Daddy and the boys played and watched a film. However, Burton felt ill by lunchtime and by 4pm there was no way that we could take him ,so I sent Daddy off with the goodies while the boys and I stayed at home. So the only photo I really have that best sums up today is one to tantalise your taste buds - so here are my Jaffa cakes!!

Mmmmm!! Recipe will follow very soon!

  1. Great news about B and nursery. It must be such a big relief and so lovely to see him enjoying it. I do eventually want Z to go to nursery for about half a day or so too but think I'll do it when he's about 2 and a bit!

  2. Looks like a lovely week and full of gorgeous photos as always- do you take them with an iphone?  If so your battery must be bad, as mine is terrible because of the amount of photos I take and you take even more than me!
I think it sounds like Burton has completely cracked nursery which is great.  I love the amount of painting and things you do, I should really start to do more of this kind of thing with Mads.  When did you start with Burton?
Hope he feels better soon. the cakes look very yummy. x

  11. I dont wish to dampen your enthusiasm with your posts Jen, but I thought I should mention that you need to be a bit careful with what you are writing!  I am referring to the picking of Bluebells in the church ..... one of my favourite flowers (dontcha know?) ..... it is illegal to pick them, not just because they are wild but they also have protected status.  The bulbs (not that Burton would pull the whole lot up) are poisnous also.  Kxxx
