That Was The Week That Was - Summer At Last!

Phew! What a scorcher this week has been! Mustn't complain of course after all the awful weather we have had recently, but I am pleased that it is cooler tonight!

Anyway, here is my week that was.

Monday
While Burton was at Ladybirds, the Olympic Torch passed through Barnstaple, but after much deliberation I decided not to go and watch it. I think if Burton had been around I would have done, but as it is it was very busy by all accounts so I may not have seen much with the buggy anyway.
So instead I did some baking and cooking and played with Jenson. When Burton got home, despite it saying in his diary book that he ate some of his two course lunch, he said he was hungry and proceeded to eat two sausage filled rolls and some fruit!
I found a height chart that I had forgotten we had, so when Daddy finished work we measured Burton and Jenson so we will now have a record of their height growth at last!

Tuesday
We awoke to blue skies and sunshine this morning, so we set off into town early as we just needed to pop into the market to buy some fruit and vegetables and had to go to the sorting office to collect a parcel. On the way home while Jenson napped in the buggy, we went to the park and Burton spent about half an hour being swung on the basket swing thingy

Granma picked Burton up after tea to stay the night at her house with Ben. He didn't need asking twice if he would like to stay!

Wednesday
Jenson and I made our way to Granma's this morning and although it was still warm, it was a bit overcast so the boys and I played outside on the swings and the trampoline.

This afternoon while Jenson slept, the sun came out so after applying sun cream and sun hats, Burton and Ben went outside with their water pistols and had lots of fun getting wet!

Thursday
This morning we went to the town I used to live and work in to meet up with some girls I went to school with as Lorraine was back from Canada for her yearly fortnight trip home with her daughter who is a little younger than Burton. I didn't see her last year as I had just given birth to Jenson! It's funny to hear Leah, her daughter, speak with a Canadian accent! It was nice to see her and my other friends and their children, and Burton and Leah played well together....most of the time!

When we got home it was lunchtime and due to it being so hot outside we spent the afternoon indoors in the cool. However, I promised Burton that we would go to the park for tea and that I would pack a picnic, and I did and I also managed to persuade Daddy to finish work a little early so that he cold join us. It was really lovely and not so hot by then either and we stayed for a couple of hours.

Friday
This morning we met Lisa and Joe at Funderzone (soft play) and we were the only people there due to the hot weather I expect! I have never know it to be so quiet ! It was great!
We left at 1.30pm as Jenson was almost falling asleep on me and he went for a nap when we got home. While he slept, Burton and I had a lazy hour and a half watching CBeebies. My friend Rita popped in on her way home from work to see the boys and Burton, in particular, enjoyed showing her how to play a Doodlebugs and the Shopping List game!
After the boys had gone to bed, I did some baking and made a chocolate sponge cake and a tea fruit loaf to take to my Mums tomorrow.

Saturday
We all went to my Mums today as my grandparents are staying. Burton helped grandad wash Shadow which he thought was great fun!

Due to it being sooo hot today, we didn't take Shadow for a walk until 4pm,and even then it was still scorchio! We found a stream and let the boys have a paddle , well I say paddle in Burton's case it was almost a swim and he got so wet! Unfortunately, I didn't take my phone with me so I have no photos of this!

Sunday
Burton woke Jenson and I up at 5.30am today! I am hoping this is a one off!
Today was Granma's birthday, so this morning we met at Funderzone so that all the grandchildren (of which there are seven) could play for a couple of hours. Afterwards it was back to Grandma's house for a BBQ which we ate indoors as it was warm but overcast and a little drizzly at times.
The cousins had a go at Twister after lunch, which was very funny to watch!

The rest of the day was spent playing out in the garden as it was dry and warm, although still overcast. Needless to say by 6pm Burton was flagging so we left and he fell asleep on the way home, in fact about a minutes after we drove away!

I hope he sleeps through later tomorrow morning!

  3. Love all the photos as always Jenny and I would be the same, it sounds awful but I am not too bothered by the Olympic Torch.  How unpatriotic of me!    The weather was so much fun this week wasn't it?  Didn't last though! x
