Party Flashback

When I saw that the theme for this weeks Flashback Friday is Party I knew which photos I would use, as I have been waiting for an excuse to use them for some time now.

Back in November 2003, many of my school friends started turning 30 and as a result there were few 30th birthday parties between 1993/1994 that I attended. The one in November was for a pair twins, Darren and Wayne, and the theme was 1970's. Now back then I LOVED an excuse to dress up, get drunk, hang out with my friends and have a laugh.

My three best friends from school, Kimberly, Elaine and Beth, came to my house in the evening and we had a meal and some wine before getting ready for the party.

We had all visited the charity shops to make our 70's inspired outfits and we wore some garish eye make up and I also wore an Afro wig!

We all looked very funky and far out man!

It was a great party and we did all get very *tipsy* and we saw people that we hadn't seen since college or school. It was a brilliant night infact!!

The girls were having a sleepover at my house that night and we eventually rolled in at 1am ish and my ex was very understanding as he heard us all arrive home and got up and made us all a cup of tea! Of course we put some music on and we started playing our 'air guitars', like you do !!

I expect we also attempted to stay up and watch 'Dirty Dancing' because *that* is how we rocked and rolled!

Of course nowadays my idea of a party involves pass the parcel and making party food and a birthday cake! How times have changed!

I am linking this up to a Flashback Friday

  1. I was only browsing back through my own photos yesterday afternoon and found some very similar looking ones to yours. Different party, different time, different people but same basic get-togethers. Even the bit about rolling in and your ex being ok about it. Im talking about the days before pubs/clubs opened till all hours and the best we had closed at 2am but we never used to want the night to end. My hubby was always ok with me and my mates bundelling back to ours and carrying on drinking,  dancing and singing (well swaying and yelling probably) he would always cook us something to help soak up the alcohol and either make sure everybody got taxis home or found everybody a spot to sleep in with blankets. Great memories but I wouldn't fancy doing it now (and my body wouldn't let me)

  5. Ahh what a night, but Jen you are ageing us by 10 years, as it wasnt 1993 it was 2003, we only left school in 1990 :-)  It was a brilliant night and I have great memories of us going to The Shed after the party and boogie woogieing the night away!  Wonderful flashback :-)  Kxxx
