Well here I am Sunday night with a cup of tea thinking back to what I got up to this week. Which only means one thing......... Yes it's time for my week that was!! (see what I did there!)
Monday
No Ladybirds today because it was a bank holiday and in true British bank holiday style, it rained. Allllllllll day. Not just rain, but full on torrential rain! Still it didn't dampen our spirits *boom boom* as we went swimming this morning which both boys LOVE. I haven't been for a couple of weeks and I was chuffed to see that Burton can now swim without arm bands a short distance!
Afterwards, we popped over to see Granma and Grampy quickly, but Jenson ended up napping so we stayed for a leftovers from yesterdays Easter Sunday buffet lunch, lunch! Burton drew a self portrait and I though Granma had helped him, but she didn't! I was really impressed (apologies for the crumpled paper, Jenson got hold of it!). He even gave himself yellow hair!
Once Jenson work up I quickly fed him as we had to visit a friend of Jon's and see his new house and meet his there's children and wife. We were already running a little late! Well the country lanes we had to take to get there were making me feel a little car sick, and they got he better of Jenson as suddenly he threw up all over himself!! And to make matters worse I had no spare clothes with me for him! Yikes!!
Anyway, we arrived at this friends new home with a sick covered child and he had to have a quick bath as the 'mess' was all over him! They have three daughters but luckily they had a small pair of leggings and a blouse left from when their youngest was a baby, which they kindly gave us for Jenson to wear! Ha ha he looked quite pretty! What an entrance we all made! I wonder if we will get invited over again?!
Tuesday
We were invited to I to the Milky Way today which is a local tourist attraction, for a friends baby's 1st birthday. It's funny because today was the date that Jenson was due to be born on last year, and Joe, the birthday boy, was also a few days early!
Anyway, we had a fun day and it is geared for children so there were plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for them. Trying to leave took some doing as Burton was reluctant to go but we got the in the end!
Today was also Grampy's birthday so when Daddy finished work we popped over for tea and cake. It was also exciting because one of the eggs which Burton's grandparents have been incubating hatched! Burton was fascinated to watch the chick
Wednesday
We went to see my Mum today but Grandad and Shadow ( the dog) were out at work so Burton was a little disappointed not to see 'his' Shadow! We spent the day playing and visiting the park as it was a sunny day, if a little chilly.
On the way home, we called in to see if any more chicks had been hatched and they were and Burton got to hold one, which was wonderful for him to experience. He was so good and gentle.
Jenson also touched one which made him smile - Burton took this photo
Thursday
Burton attended Ladybirds today as a swap from Monday when it was shut and so that we wouldn't lose our money. We had a few protests before we left home but he didn't cry until I kissed him goodbye! I could hear him outside but I know he likes it really!
When Jenson and I got home we played for a bit and then we had a parcel arrive and someone enjoyed playing with the box!
Jenson napped while I went to collect Burton and when I arrived at Ladybirds all the children were outside playing, so I stood and watched him for a few minutes happily jumping about until he saw me! I got the biggest cuddle and a shout of "mummmmeeeee" as he raced over to hug me! Awww :)
Once back home we packed their overnight bag as after tea they would be going to stay at Granma and Grampy's ! The first time Jenson has spent a night away from me!! I dropped both boys off at 5pm and I received a text from Grandma at 7.45pm telling me that Jenson was asleep and Burton was watching Mr Men cartoons! So both fine :)
Friday
I slept in until 8am! Well although it was later than I have had in a long time, I didn't get to bed til 1am the night before so it wasn't really any more sleep than usual!
So with no children I cracked on and did some housework - despite spending four hours on it, I didn't actually get many rooms done as I spent the majority of that time just in the kitchen having a spring clean! *sighs* It is never ending once you start having a deep clean isn't it?
After a late lunch I popped into town quickly to return some library books and I may have bought a pair of trousers and a top *ahem* and then I went to see my boys. I had really enjoyed my brief time off as I was pleased to get some jobs done, but aid was really looking forward to seeing them both again.
Well I got lots of hugs and kisses from the pair of them and "mummeeeeee!" exclaims from Burton! I think they were pleased to see me!
Burton was also keen to show me the other chicks that had been hatched since I last saw them
Saturday
The boys and I had two birthday parties to attend today: one from 12-2 and the other 2-4!!
The first one was for Joe who we had seen earlier this week. We were a little late getting there as Jenson had a nap late morning! Still it was lovely and there were lots of children there Jenson's age which was nice for a change for him. Burton kept 'helping' to sweep up the mess with a broom!
The second party was for Rhylie who was 3 and there were only a few people there and his parents hired a clown called Boo Boo! Burton was not impressed by his act for the most part and either sat with his hands over his eyes (!) or cuddled into me! Still Mummy enjoyed the party food at this one as she hadn't eaten at the first party, so was feeling a little peckish! Mmm love party food and birthday cake!
Sunday
We awoke to a beautiful sunny and blue sky day so I suggested that we went to the beach today and Daddy agreed!! So I packed up a picnic and we got to Instow at 12pm. It was a little breezy but we found a spot that acted like a wind breaker and we set about tucking into our lunch! Due to him keep getting up and down Burton literally had some 'sand'-wiches so he couldn't eat much of his lunch. Not that he as bothered as he just wanted to play in the sand! The last time we went to the beach was last September when my boys looked like this
What a difference!
and finally, because this is a very long week that was (apologies, I do waffle somewhat don't I?!) I saw this tree today and thought it had the most beautiful coloured blossom on it and felt the need to share it!!

Great self portrait.
Love the chicks.
Oh and lots of birthdays seemed to be at the moment - my baby is 3 next Saturday.
Visiting from Coombe Mill :O)
A lovely read, what a lot to pack into a week! I love those beach pictures and yes the boys have changed so much since September! The mystery of the chicks is now solved too, I thought they were from school, but in fact the Grandparents! Thank you for sharing on Country Kids
ReplyDeleteWell done to Burton on his swimming! Lots of parties (and therefore party food!) sound good too. Am loving the new look blog too :)
ReplyDeleteI love reading your week that was, its so great that you see so much of both sets of grandparents. Lucky you having a night off, glad you made the most of it.
ReplyDeleteAww lovely photos again and how cute are those chicks. I'm amazed that Jenson was so gentle with them. Amy would get so excited that the poor things would end up as fricassee , because she's crushed them lol x
ReplyDeleteI bet it was nice to get some time to yourselves- Mads still hasn't stayed away from us although I have been away from her a few nights and so has Mr E- we just haven't been together!
