Den Building, Tree Climbing and More Rolling Down Hills

Number 4 of the 50 Things To Do Before You're 11 3/4  is to

Build A Den

Last Sunday was a glorious day: bright sunshine, blue sky and and Open Farm Sunday!!! Our local National Trust Property, Arlington Court, was holding a few farm based activites so we met my Mum, Step Dad and my Step Niece and Nephew and met up firstly for a delicous picnic in the buttercup covered, long grassed filled meadow.

Once insde the grounds the boys set about building a den from some branches that were laying on the ground - I think Burton, Daddy and Jenson did a good job.

Then the we watched some sheep racing whcih was funny because the sheep were a bit tempermental in their running efforts!

The boys took part in making some sheep from dyed woven (done on a spinning wheel in the tent next door) sheeps wool

Then we did some more rolling down hills you can see Jenson's hilarious efforts here  and I had a go which left me feeling very dizzy. I cannot rememeber the last time I rolled down a hill !

and then Burton had a go too.

The boys also had a go at tree climbing in the tangle Gruffallo wood

All in all a great way to spend a sunny Sunday

What a brilliant day out and I'm laughing so hard at you rolling down the hill, not at you as such, but at the thought that if I did that I'd never stand up again! Ten out of Ten for effort Jenny, I'm inspired to roll down a hill now - but afraid haha

I can't believe you rolled down that hill! Well done - I would have been sick :) Lovely photos, especially the ones in the trees with the den (which is excellent!). And I love the buzz hat - my 4yo has the same one :)

I have every sympathy with the task of moving sheep, it is harder than it looks. Well done you rolling down that hill, it would make me more than a little dizzy too, bet the boys loved that you joined in with them though. All in a gorgeous day of farm and family fun. Perfect for Country Kids.

  8. Aww brings tears to my eyes to see how big they are getting (I know I say that most weeks lol). That was very good hill rolling there Jenny- but what I liked most was the comment about doing a forwards roll down - did he try it or did you have to stop him at least? We ought to go make a den.
