Grab a Great Read for International Children’s Book Day

As the writer of many much-loved fairytales, including The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina and The Princess and the Pea, Hans Christian Andersen has changed the lives of many children, encouraging them to read and starting a love affair with literature that lasts their whole lives. To honour his memory, Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, April 2nd is now the day on which International Children’s Book Day takes place, to bring attention to the magic of reading and getting parents and children together to enjoy a good story.

However, if your children’s book library is in need of some new titles, you might find the perfect new addition at the greetings card specialist Hallmark. As well as a fantastic range of personalised gifts Hallmark  also offers delightful Interactive Storybooks and Story Buddies, which are plush soft toys that chime in with their own unique responses and phrases when you read the books aloud!
There are a number of Story Buddies available, each of which has their own stories and charming personality that make bedtime fun, and can even help to improve your child’s reading and diction. Let’s take a look at the characters available – there’s sure to be one that’s perfect for your child, and will make this International Children’s Book Day one to remember.
Bigsby
Soft, shy Bigsby lives in the forest, but he loves to make friends and go on adventures. In Bigsby’s books, Bigsby’s Best Friend, Bigsby’s Borrowed Shoes, Bigsby’s Big News and Bigsby Gets a Pet Mouse, you and your child will follow along with his exciting escapades, and he’ll interact with you as the story unfolds.
Abigail
Beautiful bunny Abigail has big, floppy ears, a pretty pink and polka-dot outfit, and little bows in her hair, which will make her a hit with little girls. Abigail is a sociable, active character with a keen love for fashion, as you’ll discover from her books Abigail and the Balance Beam, Abigail and the Tea Party, and Abigail and the Lost Handbag.
Cooper
Cuddly bear Cooper just loves to be snuggled, which makes him the perfect partner for a bedtime story with a difference. His stories, The Big Bear Hug, Cooper’s Rainy Day and Cooper’s Bedtime will soon become firm favourites with your children, and you’ll soon find out that he has lots of lovely things to say!
Watson
He’s a wily, smiley raccoon with some great tales to tell! Watson, just like his namesake is great at solving mysteries and helping his pals, and your kids will love finding out about his quests in Watson and the Case of the Sneaky Stealer, Watson and the Case of the Missing Acorn, and Watson and the Case of the Little Lost Caterpillar, on this International Children’s Book Day.
