My Week That Was - No Illness & Amazing Bubbles!

So it's Sunday night again and after a week of no - yes I repeat no! - poorly children all is good! I am hosting My Week That Was for the lovely Katie as she is away on holiday in a sunnier and much warmer climate (moi jealous? VERY!). Apologies for the Linky being a bit late going up, typical that this week I am a bit behind!

Anyway, here is what we got up to in my week that was.

Monday
Meant Ladybirds for Burton and he was reluctant to go, and although he didn't cry he was a bit clingy and kept saying my name and hanging onto the when I tried to leave! Still I hung around outside and saw him playing happily within a few minutes.
Back home Jenson and I spent the morning playing. I had hoped he might nap so I could catch up on some very over due housework, but he only went down half an hour before I left to collect his brother!
Back home Burton wanted to help me get tea ready, so slight change to my meal planner, we ended up making homemade pizzas and a treacle sponge! Problem is Burton eats too much of the topping as we put the pizzas together so when he comes to actually eat it, he isn't hungry! Rascal!

Tuesday
I wanted to head into town early this morning, as it threatened rain and I didn't want to have to drive in. We needed to collect a parcel from the sorting office and renew a library book. Once we were done, I took the boys into Costa Coffee which is always a nightmare if truth be told for several reasons:
*I struggle to get in and out with my double tandem buggy
*No one ever offers to open or hold the door open for me
*I have to leave the children at the table while I have to go and fetch our drinks
*Hard to find a space to park the buggy
Anyway, I managed, though slightly red faced but the end of it, and we enjoyed a drink and a little treat.

Once home, and after we ate lunch, Granma and three of the cousins turned up unexpectedly so all the children had a lot of (noisy) fun playing together for an hour! Then Granma offered to take Burton home with her and the others to carry on playing and to stay the night - he was only to happy to go along!

Wednesday
Jenson was being a right cheeky monkey this morning while I was trying to get him dressed in Burton's room! He really comes out of himself when his big brother isn't around!

We met Granma, Burton and cousin Ben at the soft play centre where the boys had fn for a couple of hours this morning. Then we went back to Granma's a bit later as we normally do on a Wednesday and again despite the awful wet weather which was forecast it was actually quite a nice day!
This afternoon Burton and his cousin helped Granma and Grampy to release some ducklings which Burton had seen hatch a few months ago, so it was lovely for him to have seen the whole process from egg to bird to freedom! The ducks didn't want to stay in the leat though, they went in but came straight back out again!

(Burton took this photo)

Tonight we moved Jenson into Burton's room! Despite some initial crying by Jenson, which was more to do with me not laying on the floor until he fell asleep, as I had been doing while he had been ill, their first night in the same room together went well!

Thursday
We visited my Mum today which meant that the boys got to see Shadow! He recently had to have a hip operation and as a result isn't allowed too much vigorous or energetic exercise, so Mum and Mike have got him a trailer for him to sit in when out in a walk!

Granma and Burton enjoyed some balloon fights this afternoon and when out n a walk to buy a magazine, Burton couldn't wait to get home to read it and sat himself down outside the shop and then removed his shoes ha ha!
Tonight I made some Strawberry Cheesecake Cupcakes for my I Love Cake Linky - feel free to link up a recipe too if you have anything strawberry inspired :)

Friday
The weather was pretty wet and drab today so we didn't really do a lot. We popped to Tesco briefly to buy a present for a girl whose birthday party we are attending tomorrow, and got caught in a downpour without coats!
This afternoon Burton did lots of colouring and had a tea party with his cuddly toys.

Then a friend of mine turned up for a cuppa which was nice as we haven't seen each other since December!

Saturday
I had my hair coloured and cut this morning which was very much needed!
This afternoon I took the boys to a birthday party

and there was an entertainer who does the most amazing things with bubbles! It was really entertaining and very clever to watch. Well it was pretty awesome really.

Unfortunately, Burton wouldn't have a go at having a large bubble encase him which would have made such a fantastic photo! But he was pleased with watching and being given some bubbles in his party bag!

Sunday
Well today is Fathers Day and the four of us headed down to Redruth in Cornwall to meet my Dad and his new wife and her family for a meal. The boys were so good :)

And that is my week that was!

Please link up below if you would like to share your adventures from the past seven days, and the Linky will stay open until Saturday. I look forward to catching up with you all :)

  10. I love that Burton has seen the ducklings hatch & be released - it must have been a wonderful experience for him.

Like you I used to love going for a treat in the local Starbucks or Costa but now it just seems more trouble than it's worth.  I do occasionally try & sneak there on my own.
