Recently I have really enjoyed making my own pizzas and by getting Burton to help me, very slowly he has started to like pizza again (I say again, as he used to eat them when he was much younger before the "me don't like it" phase started!) and now he tells me "me like pizza!".
Yes!
One of the things I am not too keen on with shop bought pizzas, is that I find the dough is either too doughy or too thin: I can never find one which is somewhere in between. I like my pizza dough to be like the ones you can get from take away pizza or eat in pizza restaurants where the dough is freshly made and is much lighter than shop bought. Yes I guess I am a bit fussy with my pizzas!
Howeve I was asked to try a brand new range of pizzas by Dr. Oekter called Casa di Mama.
Now the marketing strap line behind this new line is that the dough is fresh and bakes for the first time in your oven! This caught my attention straight away making me very interested to try out this pizza to see if the dough would like that you find in pizza eateries. I mean a frozen pizza with a fresh dough - that would cook and offer a crispy base with a soft and fluffy inside?? I was not convinced!
Well, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
No,really I was.
I tried the Quattro Formaggi pizza, which is topped with a blend of four cheeses (mozzarella, blue cheese, Edam and emmental) and the tomato sauce is rich and tangy. The base was nice and wasn't too doughy or too crisp and I have to say very much like the types you would get from a take away or eat in pizza restaurant. It was light and fluffy and made a pleasant change from the normal frozen pizzas where the bases can be burnt and crispy! Or maybe I just can't cook frozen pizza!?
Casa Di Mama pizzas are available from the freezer sections of most supermarkets and cost £2.79. Visit the Casi Di Mama website for a selection of recipes for some tasty and healthy side dishes to accompany your pizza, which have been devised be quick, easy and nutritional - perfect for your family's meal time needs.
I will continue to make my own pizzas, but if am ever in need of a frozen pizza for that night when I haven't had chance to cook a meal and I can't be bothered to make my own dough so late in the day/evening, then I will definitely be buying these again!
I was sent vouchers to allow me to trial these pizzas for free. All opinions and comments are my own.
I'm dribbling for this right now and it's on 8.20am! I love pizza! I've not tried these but think I might get one for the freezer! I must agree about the shop bough pizza's though, it's hard to find a good one but I've learnt the tesco's thin and crispy ones are the nicest I've tried! And Sainsburys do good deep pan ones! I think you have to shop around!! xx
