We all know that it’s important to treat your loved one to a Valentine’s Day card on February 14th, but it seems the old adage that the way to a heart is through the stomach still rings true. In a recent survey of consumers a third of women (32%) and almost half of men (42%) said that they’d like to enjoy a Valentine’s Day meal in a restaurant, showing that people still want to make the day special by sharing a romantic evening, or cosy lunch date, with the one they love.
There was good news for those wanting to enjoy Valentine’s Day on a budget too, as 41% of women and 28% of men said they’d be happy to chow down on some home cooking on the big day. What’s more, money might not be the only reason for wanting to spend it at home as a number of respondents to the survey said they find dining out in a restaurant on Valentine’s Day a little too ‘cheesy’ and prefer to cook in the privacy of their own homes.
Savour the Day
No matter where you want to celebrate Valentine’s Day, the important thing is that you end the day with your hearts full, and your bellies even fuller! If there’s a particular restaurant you want to dine at on the day be sure to book as far in advance as possible. It may sound obvious, but you might be lucky enough to take advantage of a limited Valentine’s Day offer as well as get the best seats in the house, at the perfect time.
On the other hand, if you and your partner would rather have an intimate Valentine’s Day and dine at home, there are still plenty of ways to make it one to remember. Your loved one might have a favourite restaurant dish so why not find a recipe for it and whip it up on Valentine’s Day? Surprise them with your culinary skills and make them feel utterly spoiled at the same time!
But in the midst of the Valentine’s Day dining excitement, don’t forget to pick up a valentine card (the real Valentine’s Day must-have!) The greetings card specialist Hallmark have a fantastic selection of Valentine’s cards available to buy online...so you can tick that off your do-to list with just the click of a mouse!
