Jaffa Slutty Brownies

Although I am not a fan of the term 'slutty', I have been wanting to make some of these slutty brownies ever since I was made aware of them late last year during a twitter conversation I shared with Mari and TheBoyandMe, who have since all made their own versions (as has Jo more recently). The original recipe originates from TheLondoner who l,ike everyone else I have mentioned, incorporates a layer of oreo cookies within the brownie which I will have a go at making another time.

However, wanting to make my own version of these so called best brownies ever, I have added an orange flavour by using jaffa cakes .Here is how I made them.

Makes 8 decadent slices

You will need

**obviously other types of cookie and brownie mixes are available and would work equally aswell as these

You also need to pre-heat your oven to what the packet tells you, in my case it was 140 oC (fan oven)
Also you need to grease a 7 inch cake tin- square, rectangular or round the choice is yours

Then you need to do the following:

Make the cookie mix first but add extra oil/butter and water to the mix because you will be cooking it longer than directed on the packet and it needs to be gooey and more pliable, I added an extra tbsp of each.

Pour the cookie mix into the bottom of your baking tin

Then top with your jaffa cakes - as i used a round cake tin I broke some up to ensure the cookie mix was covered well! I used a whole packet

Next make up your brownie mix - mine just required water being added - and when smooth pour over the other two layers

Then bake in the oven according to your brownie packet directions which in this case is 30 minutes
(I added an extra 5 minutes to mine as I like my brownies more solid but that is just my own personnel preference!)

Once cooled down enough so as not to collapse, remove from baking tin and slice up

My brownies are not as gooey in the middle as other slutty brownies, but I prefer mine like this and the tangy orange jaffa goo which runs through the centre of each brownie slice is simply divine!

For such an easy recipe the taste results are deeeelicious

I can only imagine that the term 'slutty brownies' is used because once eaten and you think about all the naughty yumminess which has just entered your mouth, you are left feeling a bit well dirty and sinful!

Orange slutty brownies - ooooh yes please!

  3. I made slutty brownies for the first time a few months back, and they really were delicious. Although I'm pretty sure my hubby would prefer your recipe with the Jaffa cakes.
If you do get round to making them with Oreos, I would definitely recommend using the double stuffed ones if you can find them. Even more decadent, but even more delicious I promise you!
And like you, I'm not a fan of the term "slutty" but it does seem appropriate for this recipe: super easy and terribly filthy!! ;)
