I love attending firework displays and I also like the food that is on offer at bonfire parties. Warming soups and hot potato wedges and then something sweet and sticky to appeal to my sweet tooth!
Here are a few ideas for some sweet treats that you can whip up in a few minutes to offer your friends and family.
To make 4 you will need
4 small eating apples
4 bags of toffees (100g per bag) I used Thorntons
4 lollipop sticks
some edible sprinkles of your choice
Then simply:
wash and dry the apples
remove the cores
insert a stick into the top of the apple
melt the toffee in a microwave bowl at 30 sec intervals until the toffee is melted and bubbling
then acting VERY FAST coat the apples with the gloopy toffee. If the toffee hardens, pop back in to the microwave for another 30 secs
then while toffee is still warm, cover your apple with your sprinkles
4 small eating apples
bag of marshmallows ( I used the large pink and white ones)
4 lollipop sticks
some edible sprinkles
wash and dry the apples
remove the cores
insert a stick into the top of the apple
melt the marshmallows in a microwave bowl for 30 secs intervals until they are melted and bubbling
then acting VERY FAST again, coat the apples with the gloopy mallow stickiness
then decorate with your sprinkles
50g popcorn makes 6 muffin sized pops
So to make 6 you will need
50g popcorn (I used sweet)
120g bar of good quality milk chocolate
50g marshmallows
6 lollipop sticks
either a silicone muffin tray OR a muffin tray lined with paper muffin cases
Then simply
in a microwave proof bowl, melt the chocolate in a microwave bowl at 30 sec intervals until the melted
stir in the popcorn
in another microwave proof bowl, melt the marshmallows for 30 seconds and stir to make a gloppy sauce
pour into the chocolate and popcorn bowl and mix well.
add a heaped tbsp of popcorn mixture in to your muffin tray holes or enough to pack it out and stick your stick into the middle and press the popcorn mix around the stick
then place in to the fridge for at least 30 minutes
Remove carefully and they are ready to eat
And there you go some very sweet treats to make your bonfire party go off with a bang!
