The Terrible Two's

Tell me where has my little boy gone?
One minute he's here happy and mild
The next it's like he's been replaced
By a sulky, misbehaving devil child!

The slightest little thing can set him off
Like giving him the wrong biscuit snack
Or waking him from his afternoon nap
I so want to give this devil child back!

So melodramatic he falls to the ground
Screaming and rolling all over the floor
His red, tear stained face crying so loud
I want to shout out "please stop! no more!"

When not performing the tantrum dance
He's more naughty than ever before
Scribbling on walls with black crayon
And throwing objects all over the floor

The sudden transformation before my eyes
Cannot be helped, I know, it's his age
He has reached the dreaded toddler phase
Burton is at the 'terrible two's' stage :(

So terrible two's hurry up, do your worse
Then return my happy, smiley boy again.
Unfortunately, once they've passed Burton by
Jenson's terrible two's will drive me insane!

  1. We've hit the terrible twos, although he's not yet 2 (really hoping they don't get worse!) Maybe Jenson will seem easier as you'll be an expert by then ;)

  4. I've noticed this is creeping up on us too with my LO. She started to have a tantrum this afternoon because we wouldn't open the back gate of all things! At the moment I'm using Peppa Pig as a good distraction for tantrums but dreading the ones that happen outside the home! hope the TT's don't last long. x

  7. I remember my son suddenly hated being woken up from afternoon nap. They just get to a stage when they want to be themselves and the only way of expressing it is screaming. Do you think some of the naughtiness could be about having to share you?

A fab poem - captures the frustration of the terrible twos perfectly.
