This photo was taken in July 2006 on my friend Beth's hen night. This shows my best friends from school: Beth, Elaine, me in the middle and Kimberly. The night turned out to be rather eventful in the end due to lots of drinking on empty stomachs!! Basically, we all paid £20 up front and we were led to believe this would include a sit down meal and a couple of cocktails. So while me and my friend Elaine were getting ready to go out on for the night, we nibbled on a few crisps and drank our way through two bottles of wine, as we thought we would soon be sitting down to a 2 course meal.
Well of course feeling very tiddly, we arrived at the venue only to discover that our deposit only covered a few nibbles and cocktails!! Well, you can imagine the state we got ourselves into! All was fine until we left the function room that had been hired for us and we headed to a bar - the fresh air mixed with a packed bar was too much for some of us and we all lost each other! I almost fell asleep on a seat in the bar and woke up feeling like crap and couldn't find anyone so instead of going back to my friend Elaine's house for the night, as planned, I got into a taxi and headed home which cost me about £15! Jon was very surprised to see me as I wasn't meant to return home that night. Of course once I was home I suddenly felt bad and worried about Elaine in case she was looking for me as she wouldn't have known where I was! Plus I had her money as we had shared my bag! So Jon had to phone her husband to explain what had happened.
It turned out that Elaine didn't look for me as she was so drunk that she also just wanted to get home. Luckily her husband's work colleague also worked as a bouncer at the bar we were at and he got her into a taxi and paid for her to get back to her house! However, not before she had first attempted to start running home in her heels lol! Anyway, luckily it all turned out alright in the end, even though we were not happy wi the hen night organiser because we were led to believe we would be eating a meal, and had we eaten we wouldn't have got quite so drunk or ended up home by 10.30pm!

ha ha, great story! Sounds like one of my pre-babies nights out! I have a bad habit of drinking on an empty stomach, if I've eaten I just want to go & have a lie down!!

I remember the days - before motherhood. Brilliant photo and great story - a real flashback!
ReplyDeleteI'm noticing that most of your Flashback Fridays focus on getting drunk and great nights out. I can't believe you ended up home though at 10.30!
