Flashback Friday - 1988



For this weeks FLASHBACK FRIDAY I am going back to 1988, when I was 14.








Yet again another bad hair style - this time a perm on top I think! Not a good look!

This is a photo of me and my old best friend Donna, when we met up again two years after my family and I moved from Newbury, Berkshire to North Devon. For anyone who saw my flashback Friday photo 2 weeks ago of an old primary school photo, some of you thought I was Donna, when I asked you to guess which child was me!

When I first moved to Devon, Donna and I wrote to each other all the time and we met up a few times over the years. Nowadays we are friends on facebook and the last time I saw her was November 2008. As it is even though we don't see or contact each other that much, she is the friend I have been friends with the longest, as I have known her since 1984, when we discovered we had a mutual love of all things Wham! related!

I often wonder if we would have stayed friends had I stayed in Newbury, as not long after I moved away she got expelled from the school we went to together and had to go to one in another town. She also fell pregnant at 16 and had a gorgeous son who she raised without his father being present as he didn't want to know! I admire her for that because I don't know how I would have coped in the same situation.

    See, now that photo would have been even better if you had your sleeves rolled up a la Wham/Miami Vice stylee :)

    I always wanted a perm - wasn't allowed. Now I am thankful (no offence) you would have clearly been up there in the style stakes circa 1988.
    Great pic. It's always good to get the oldies with your pals out. x

    As a child I ALWAYS wanted a perm but mother dearest wouldn't let me.Now I am ever so grateful, loving the picture x

    OMG hilarious! My mum was too cheap to let me do a perm ...at the time I was well miffed...now I am relieved at her tight fistedness!
