When I first started blogging, I would just upload photos from my laptop in the normal way - and they looked well rectangular in shape and photograph like!!
However, I always had blogger envy whenever I visited another blog and saw photos presented in fabulous ways; curved edges, mosaic style, different shading and colours and so on. I did not know how people managed this. Then I discovered picnik which was like my pictorial saviour and has really helped me present the photos on my blog, which I must admit are an important part of it and I think a post attracts readers when tis layout is nice to look at: a visual treat for the eyes I guess.

Sadly picnik is shutting down next month, and I have already been trialling some apps for my apple related gadgets, but so far I haven't found anything as good. I guess I will have to find some software to install which will assist me with my photo editing .
One such item which could fit the bill for people who find themselves in a similar situation is the Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7 by Magix
This software contains a vast array of functions to help give your photos that 'wow' factor! From powerful image editing to amazing illustration capabilities, the package also comes with a proficient desktop publishing and a comprehensive design template.
Now I have never vlogged on my blog, but I know it is proving very popular with many bloggers and I have watched a few myself. Magix also offer an extensive movie making software package too for the budding Speilbergs and Scorcesse's out there!! Oh wait, maybe thats a little too adventurous for blogging!!
Offering everything you need to make a professional video, the movie edit pro has an impressive layout, which enables you to do so many weird and wonderful video edits.
Now I have to be completely honest with you all, due to the fact that I use apple products in my home I wasn't able to trial these two software packages as they are not compatible. However, they are both PC compatible and supported by the following
Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)
Microsoft® Windows® Vista® (32-bit and 64-bit)
Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-bit)
Microsoft® Windows® Vista® (32-bit and 64-bit)
Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-bit)
and with a site like picnik closing down, software installations may be the way forward for continuing our blog fabulousness :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic giveaway! I take most pics of my 4 year old son, but I do like to experiment with lots of different subjects. Being a bit of a frustrated artist (frustrated due to lack of time), I would like to get more out of the photos I've taken. I've been inspired to start blogging - mostly to have a record of my son growing up, so I'd definitely put the software to good use!
ReplyDeleteI photograph most my 3 children ... but I always seem to be 2 secs to late and end up with shut eyes instead of the lovely smile.
ReplyDeleteI take photos of Leo the most.... he's the most interesting subject! Although increasing I find myself taking photos of the progress of cake making - I blame you for that ;)

ReplyDeleteMy little boy. I love having a record of him as he grows and think it is important to photograph the everyday as well as the occasions.
ReplyDeleteI have a habit of taking pictures of everything but myself (well, most of the time anyway; I think the last picture I took of myself was of my shadow on the ground in an amusement park parking lot). As a child, I used to take many pictures of the plants in my backyard, but more recently I've been abusing my camera during conventions (taking pictures of cosplayers). I recently acquired a digital camera a few months ago, but I seldom use it, for it has a knack for quickly draining the life out of the batteries I put inside it.
